DAY 3- PHUNTSHOLING TO THIMPU – Westarted on this journey on day 3 with a visit to the Army doctor first 🙁 . My son and brother in law, both had an upset stomach !! So with a prayer on our lips and some trepidation we started the drive on the snaking mountainous roads. The first thing that struck me was how different the mountains in Bhutan were from the mountains in Sikkim.
A 8 day leisurely road journey from Gangtok (Sikkim) to Bhutan and back. Unplanned, sans any research, GPS, trip advisor or lonely planet…….the best road trip ever !!
This was back in 2004 when we were posted in Gangtok, Sikkim. One of the most beautiful places I have had the privilege of living for 2.5 years ! My journey across this majestic land called India !
I would not call myself a traveler if I hadn’t seen the length and breadth of this beautiful land of my birth across states, town and villages.
The majestic Himalayas, blue Nilgiris, mighty Ganges, turbulent Teesta, winding tea plantations, the chaotic road of old Delhi, the smiling toothless women selling guavas on the roadsides while driving through Uttaranchal mountains, the jalebi and pakora walas on roadside dhabas in Punjab sets this land apart from any other place in the world ! I popped a few blood vessels filling out my UK visa and waiting for the decision 🙁 . Continue reading “Visa Free, Visa on Arrival Destinations for Indians”
Hongkong was a place I went on a total whim. Just decided to give a trip to Disneyland as a surprise gift to my son for his upcoming 10th birthday !

The best gift to give your children is to travel with them
One of the best ways to bond with your family especially children is to travel with them , not tour but travel ! The memories you create are lifelong , priceless , the children learn so much more than they learn by sitting in a classroom . The exposure to how the rest of the world lives at an early age ,the sensitivity to ways of people other than yours goes a long way in shaping up the personality of the young ones. I have some extremely fond memories of traveling with my kids.
Tourists don’t know where they’ve been, Travelers don’t know where they are going – Paul Theroux
What do you prefer ?….the structured tours offered by multiple travel companies or the thrill of researching and plunging headlong in a trip to a place you have never been to. I guess from the statement above you can make out which category I belong to !
