2016 Travel Recap and ‘To Come’ in 2017

A summary of my travels in 2016 and chalking out the itinerary for 2017

2016 was a great year for me travel wise, from the salubrious climes of Scotland to beaches of Goa, my passport and bags did a lot of heavy lifting. I have to plan my travels around my children’s school and academic calendar. I really marvel at the mom’s who manage to travel round the year, maybe I will be able to do it once the kid’s fly from the nest ! Continue reading “2016 Travel Recap and ‘To Come’ in 2017”

Exploring Ladakh beyond Leh – Part 1

Nature at it’s supreme !

Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller – Ibn Battuta

What can I tell about Ladakh that has not been told already !! There are scores of blogs, travel stories which will tell you the do’s and don’s about traveling to Ladakh, all I can tell is MY story, as I indeed become more of a storyteller than a traveler with each journey I undertake. Far from the madding crowd !

A long weekend break to lesser known hill station of Ramgarh from Delhi, just perfect.

I happen to be one of those who needs a holiday to recuperate from a holiday !! After the super hectic UK trip, I needed a break to just unwind, do nothing, no work deadlines to meet, no exam worries, not juggling the many activities of kids, basically just wanting to curl up in a corner with a book and my family around me. I threatened the husband with dire consequences and convinced him to take 2 days off from work and coupled with the weekend, we had a 4 day long weekend, voila !! The day I surrendered my heart to Gangtok !

Story of how Gangtok became a home for me and not a tourist hotspot 🙂

I was a 24 year old new mom who had to shift lock, stock and barrel for atleast 2.5 years to Gangtok to follow the husband’s call of duty. Sounds wow for a tourist, like a really long vacation ! But in my heart, I wasn’t ready to go, it meant quitting a well paying job and becoming a financially dependent housewife, which wasn’t appealing howsoever beautiful the place maybe ! Ye mera INDIA

My journey across this majestic land called India !

I would not call myself a traveler if I hadn’t seen the length and breadth of this beautiful land of my birth across states, town and villages.
The majestic Himalayas, blue Nilgiris, mighty Ganges,  turbulent Teesta, winding tea plantations, the chaotic road of old Delhi, the smiling toothless women selling guavas on the roadsides while driving through Uttaranchal mountains, the jalebi and pakora walas on roadside dhabas in Punjab sets this land apart from any other place in the world !
